Japfest 2020 - Ticket Info Coming Soon!

Retro Japanese Display

This year at Japfest Silverstone make sure to head over to the 2017 Retro Japanese display!

Retro Japanese magazine is very much about variety, and that will be reflected in the display. We'll have everything from a gullwinged kei car, the Autozam AZ-1, to a 1975 Toyota Celica RA25 GT2000 that we featured in issue four. If that wasn't glamour enough, we'll have heavyweights including one of our current cover stars, Joel Pickering's Nissan 300ZX Z32, Rich Wheatley's Skyline R30, Frank Hayes' remarkable Mazda Eunos Cosmo – the only production car with a triple-rotor engine and Honda's own 1990 NSX, a car we featured back in issue 1. Tom Shackson will be bringing his 1989 Toyota Soarer – a rare 3-litre car.

On a smaller scale, we'll have Simon Carr's delightful Honda Civic Mk1, a car also featured in the current issue, as well as the Nissan Sunny pick-up of Ross Hancox and Jack Lloyd's Honda CRX – a car which has undergone much restoration work.

There will be staff cars too, including editor Seabrook's shabby daily driver Honda S-MX, history buff Eddie Rattley's Nissan Prairie and brochure man Dan Hirst's fifth-gen Honda Prelude.

Elsewhere, expect to see Ian McHattie's Mazda MX-5, complete with its throttle-body conversion. This is a car we drove in issue three, and it's a thoroughly lovely example of one of the most popular sports cars of all time. We're also delighted that Alan Bradley will be able to bring his Isuzu VehiCROSS – one of the most unusual off-roaders ever made. Grant Bolton will be showing his tidy Honda Accord Aerodeck and Pete Fyson his lightly-modified 1976 Datsun Laurel. As you can see, we firmly believe that variety is king.
